Hair thinning and hair loss is a state that has constantly been related with men but in actuality any one can get affected by it at any age. There are many causes for loss of hair comprising many of which is not related with genes. For example poor nutrition may lead to hair loss. It is important for health and growth of hair that we eat enough amounts of iron and protein. Hair grows from hair follicles which needs nourishment and that is possible by taking proper nutrition. Vitamins such as vitamin A, B and E play significant role in maintaining healthy hair. Hair thinning or hair loss may also cause due to side effects of certain medications. Side effects of medications are experienced differently by all people so it is vital to consult physician if you are experiencing hair loss. Hormone imbalances or changes can cause hair loss or hair thinning but this is normally momentary. For example hormone levels are exaggerated with the birth, pregnancy, menopause, thyroid conditions and so on and when they recover to normal levels, hair growth will be normal.

Hair damage may also cause due to hair dyes, curling irons, blow dryers and perms due to excessive use of it.
Teleogen effluvium is another kind of hair loss which is caused by physical or emotional shock to the organism which may comprise of immediate death of dear ones, due to high fever, extreme or sudden weight loss, surgery or metabolic disturbances.
There are many causes or explanations for hair loss, so it is essential that help of physician should be taken before you go simply bald due to heredity. Hair thinning or hair loss may indicate illness such as lupus or diabetes.
